The conference provides a forum for academics, practitioners and policymakers in the areas of real estate finance, development and investment, housing, urban planning, urban economics, hospitality, and public policy to discuss and share their latest research and views on the global real estate market.

AsRES

Asian Real Estate Society (AsRES) was established in 1996 with the aim to produce and disseminate real estate knowledge with an emphasis on Asia. Starting with 60 founding members, AsRES has grown rapidly. In a short period, AsRES has established her presence in Asia by holding conferences in Hong Kong, Taipei, Hawaii, Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul, and Singapore. AsRES offers a great opportunity for anyone who would like to learn more about Asian real estate market and to interact with real estate educators and professionals in Asia.

GCREC

Global Chinese Real Estate Congress (GCREC) is a non-profit and non-political academic organization registered in Macao. GCREC aims to 1) promote the participation of Chinese in the research, education, and development of the real estate industry and its related fields, advancing professionalism in and enhancing sustainable development of the industry; 2) boost the communication and information exchange between researchers from tertiary institutions and practitioners of the real estate industry or related fields; and 3) elevate the ethics and morality of Chinese practitioners in the real estate industry or related fields, fostering their abilities to serve the society.

AREUEA

The American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association (AREUEA) was originated at the 1964 meeting of the Allied Social Science Association in Chicago. AREUEA grew from discussions of individuals that recognized a need for more information and analysis in the fields of real estate development, planning and economics.

Welcome Message

Dean

Esteemed Guests of the 2024 AsRES-GCREC and AREUEA Joint International Real Estate Conference,

We extend a heartfelt and enthusiastic welcome to the distinguished attendees of the 2024 AsRES-GCREC and AREUEA Joint International Real Estate Conference. My colleagues and I are genuinely delighted to host you at the prestigious College of Technology Management, Tsing Hua University, and to introduce you to the captivating city of Hsinchu.

Situated in the northwestern region of Taiwan, Hsinchu City is a locale enveloped by the splendor of mountains on three sides, with the majestic sea gracing its fourth boundary, thereby sculpting a distinctive funnel-shaped landscape. Consequently, regardless of whether the monsoon winds prevail from the northeast or the southwest, they gain considerable velocity as they ingress the city, hence earning Hsinchu the affectionate moniker, the “Windy City.”

Our conference this year is structured around five pivotal themes: sustainability, resilience, innovation, cross-domain exploration, and pioneering endeavors. These themes transcend passing trends, for they encompass some of the most paramount issues that our society must navigate in the years to come. It is our firm conviction that the real estate industry should not merely adapt to these challenges but should strive to lead the way. We aspire for the 2024 AsRES-GCREC and AREUEA Conference to serve as an esteemed platform, facilitating the dissemination of research findings and the exchange of innovative ideas among all participants.

We are honored to have you join us for this intellectually enriching event, and we eagerly anticipate the valuable interactions and collaborative endeavors that will undoubtedly emerge from this gathering.

With respect and warm regards,

Che-Chun Lin, Ph.D.

President, 2024 Asian Real Estate Society (AsRES)

Dean, College of Technology, Tsing Hua University (Hsinchu)

Dear all Global Chinese Real Estate Congress (GCREC) Members and Esteemed Guests:

Welcome to the “2024 Global Real Estate Summit,” which is also the 2024 Global Chinese Real Estate Congress (GCREC) Annual Meeting, and is held in conjunction with the Annual Meeting of the Asia Real Estate Society (AsRES) and the Conference of the American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association (AREUEA). Together with Professor also Dean Che-Chun Lin and Professor I-Chun Tsai, this joint conference will be hosted by the Tsing Hua University (Hsinchu) during the dates of July 25 to 28 in 2024.

Hsinchu, with its hilly terrain and coastal location, is also known as the “Windy City”. This city combines Taiwan’s Han people, Hakka culture, and the early Pingpu aborigines to form a special cultural landscape. Hsinchu is also an important city because its industries significantly affect the development and manufacturing of cutting-edge technologies worldwide, especially in the semiconductor and electronic sectors, such as TSMC (headquarters). In addition, Hsinchu Science Park, the Industrial Technology Research Institute, the Tsing Hua University (Hsinchu), and the Chiao Tung University (Hsinchu) are located here, forming a technology and talent supply chain. This high technology industry has recently driven local household incomes to some of the highest levels in Taiwan, and has served as the economic foundation of the local real estate market. Hsinchu is located near Taoyuan International Airport and is only about 100 kilometers away from Taipei. Regional public transportation is convenient. The guests attending this event, therefore, will be able to experience the unique cultural life of a Taiwanese town, which is different from those of big cities.

The GCREC was established in 2008, and has held annual meetings every year, except for those years impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, 2024, already marks the 14th annual meeting. Taiwan has hosted two of these annual conferences, 2010 and 2017, and both received strong positive feedback from the respective participants. Thanks to the efforts of the past presidents of previous conferences, the secretary-general of the society, and the support team, the GCREC has become an important platform for global real estate academics and has attained extraordinary levels of achievement. I would like to express my highest respect and gratitude to the entire GCREC Congress.

Once again, we are looking forward to welcoming all GCREC members and distinguished friends from all over the world to come to Taiwan to participate in this grand event! We also look forward to strengthening our everlasting friendship!

Welcome and thank you!
